So I don’t want to jinx anything, but as far as I know, the major snowstorms are done.  This makes me very happy, cuz I really hate driving in the snow since my car doesn’t have four-wheel drive.  It really doesn’t matter that much though, cuz I feel that I’m a pretty safe driver when it comes to inclement weather.  Out of all my driving experiences, I have never crashed my car once.  I came close though recently.

I was driving on Noble Road, and it was late at night, and the road was a little icy and snow covered on some spots.  As I was driving, two buggies were going the opposite way, of course right at a snow covered spot on my side of the road.  I stayed on my side, going slow, and after they passed proceeded to go to the other lane to avoid the yucky stuff on my side.  It was too late though, cuz there was a giant puddle, and my car hit it, splashing water all over my windshield.  The water instantly froze on my windshield and my car started sliding a bit since it was on snow and ice.  I couldn’t see a single thing cuz of the ice on my windshield so I slowed down to a stop, luckily avoiding driving into the bank.

I put the defrost on full blast and just sat there in the middle of the road for a minute or two so the ice could melt off my windshield.  Luckily those buggies had passed me earlier and not at that moment, and luckily no other car was coming.  I then continued on my way home, with no other problems the rest of the way.

I would say that this was my most scariest driving experience ever, or at least during the winter.  As I think about it now, this incident, along with all my other drives through the snow and ice, was not just me being lucky.  There’s definitely a higher power at work here.  Every time before I need to drive somewhere, and the weather isn’t looking good, I say a prayer to God to protect me as I drive, keeping me alert and smart.  I don’t mean to sound all cliche and stuff, but I believe God has guided me whenever I had to drive in the snow and ice.  I could have crashed so many times before, but I didn’t, and I think it’s cuz I had God on my side.

It’s just a wondrous thought, I think, to know that the real reason I didn’t crash and die is not due to myself, but ultimately to God for protecting me.  Not saying God is only there for driving on snowy roads; He is with us wherever we go.  I think this winter has just made me realize this more, in that we shouldn’t only look to God for when there’s danger, but that we should look to Him all the time.
